Shiva
Lingam
By Lotus
Hi All~ Stopped by a rock shop in
Vantage they have these stones. They are sort of egg shaped,
only longer. I bought a small one that is about 1-2 inches long.
I have seen these before in metaphysical book shops. They come
in all sizes... the one I found is small compared to all of
them I have seen before today. I have wanted one of these stones
for sometime now. On our way home from the coast I was drawn
to stop at the rock shop. We have stopped there many times over
the years. This is the first time that they have had them for
sale. I am just thrilled to finally have one of these Shiva
Lingam stones. I did a search about them. They have become more
popular because they were in the movie Indiana Jones. They are
good for meditation and other spiritual stuff. I will add more
info later. I just felt the need to share my joy of having one
of these stones come into my life. I felt guided to it.
Shiva Lingam or its proper name,
Narmadeshvara Lingam stone is known as a sacred stone and comes
from the Namada River in India. Traditional folklore says that
the Shiva Lingam stone contains a microscopic form of the universe
where the form represents male energy - knowledge - and the
markings symbolic of female energy - wisdom. The Lingam is a
symbol of that which is invisible yet omnipresent. The markings
create a field for deep meditation and each stone, by nature,
is one of a kind.
Mouse:
Awwwwwwww, isn't it amazing
when we find something that sings to our hearts in such a powerful
way?
Luna:
My update on this stone:
The shiva lingam is one of the most sacred icons of the ancient&
modern world. Accessible only during the dry season, these stones
are collected at that time from the riverbed. The locals naturally
shape & polish them to enhance their natural markings with
mud & natural oils. Shiva Lingams are only found at the
Narmada River high in the mountains of Mandhata, one of the
seven sacred holy places of pilgrimage in India. Each Lingam
contains sacred markings symbolic of the marks on Lord Shiva`s
forehead. The stones are "Crypto Crystalline Quartz",
said to contain the loftiest vibration of all stones on Earth.
They emanate a vibration that will purify your temple or home.
The stone represents both the male energy of knowledge &
the female energy of wisdom. No two stones are alike. They are
composed of quartz composition with basalt & agate making
them powerful energy generators. The lingam is symbolic of the
divine creative manifestation. It also represents the harmony
or balance of the soul that is maintained within the heart of
all of us.
Pathwalkah:
Here's my $0.02 on them:
I saw them once at a gem show and the people selling them said
that they were good for massage and because they are river stones,
they LOVE to be with you in the bathtub and water is the best
way of cleaning them. I remember holding them and it felt like
I was holding a crayon. That waxy texture drove me up the wall.
Luna:
Pathwalkah~ The ones I
looked at are not waxy. Mine feels like a stone feels, cool
until it absorbs my body heat. It then feels very nice &
warm, I enjoy holding it on my palm. Its nice to roll
around in the hand. I'm thinking the ones that were waxy may
have been treated with something? However I would not like that
feeling either. Some veggies & fruits get this treatment..
like cucumbers & apples. I won't buy them if they feel waxy
LOL
so I hear you on that note.
