Rainbows
By Katt
I was sure we had a beautiful post
somewhere about Rainbows, but I can't seem to find it. Last
night I saw the most amazing double rainbow, and while I have
some general knowledge about rainbows, I was hoping to read
more. Can anyone share a bit with me about what rainbows mean
to you? Thanks!
CinnamonMoon:
I've always seen them as a promise
that things are taking a turn for the better, the air is clear
and there's a prism of light and color to it. Years ago a friend
gave me a plaque that reads: "Without the rain there can
be no rainbows" at a time when I was going through a very
rough period. They also signify unity and community to me in
the sense that we are all One. Each time I see one I think of
the Rainbow Tribe, and the path I serve, a bridge to and from
Spirit. *Soft smile*
SisterCyber:
I assume
from that thread that rainbows, in your view, bring blessings...?
What kind and how do they do that? I was taught that the rainbow
is what "god" (who doesn't exist in my world) put
in the sky as a sign after the flood destroyed everything except
for the people and animals who were with Noah in the arc he
felt compelled to build. But I need to scratch all that ~ what
a fairytale! So, I am interested in knowing what you guys think
rainbows are, why they are, and whatnot. I have not seen one
in a while. And they are not only in the sky either... I saw
one in an oil-slick in the street one day a few years ago....
Does that mean anything?
SacredGarden:
I saw
the most incredible double rainbow myself just a couple of days
ago. I thought it to be a sign, but never thought to ask about
it - glad someone did! It was so amazing. We were on our way
out the door, and I took a look out our window as I always do
before leaving, cause the view always fills me with awe ...
and there I saw this double rainbow. The girls were yelling
"Come on Mom", the husband was waiting in the car
... and here I couldn't move from the site before me. I felt
like a magnet stuck to that spot! I took pictures with the digital
camera, but they just could not do it justice. The colors were
so vibrant, just incredible. I've never seen anything like it
before, and the beautiful memory remains. Just wanted to share.....
Marila:
Sister
Cyber,
I
have not seen one in a while. And they are not only in the sky
either... I saw one in an oil-slick in the street one day a
few years ago.... Does that mean anything?
You
remember this - and therefore it meant something for you. What
did *you* feel - what do you feel *now* remembering it? This
is your very personal and beautiful way to connect with your
own inner experiences - what does it mean for you? (This is
how we all started - this is how we go on - what does this mean
for me? It is not that someone will tell us what this "should"
mean for us - there is the free will, there is each single person
that is
to be honored to get things in his/her very own way. As you
are to be honored to get your experiences in your very own way.
Even if others share with us their opinion - it is us to work
with it in order to integrate it in our own life...) Please
let me say that for me there is no difference: If I see a rainbow/rainbow
colors - whether it is in the sky, in oil on water, in mud,
on a piece of paper - it all can hold a deep meaning for me.
I am happy for you that you could even see a rainbow in oil...
This is a gift... To see Beauty in "daily" things...
Katt:
Sister Cyber, I'm not sure
how to answer your question. I've been going through a very
rough time in my life, and I'm hoping that seeing the rainbows,
coupled with other signs last night, signify the beginning of
something more harmonious. I certainly feel more at peace today.
Maybe the blessing, at least for me, is that of hope? I know
that if a person were to get technical, a rainbow of any sort
is nothing more than light refraction. But you have to be in
the right spot at the right time and the right angle to be able
to see one. And how beautiful it is to see, whether it's in
the sky, a raindrop or an oil stain. SacredGarden, how wonderful!
They are riveting, aren't they?
SilverEagleDreamDancer:
Hope
is what they've always meant for me Katt. I'm sure they happen
whether I'm there to see them or not so, if I happen to be in
the right place at the right time to see them, they do mean
something.. usually hope. Sometimes though, honestly - I have
to open up and listen to them. Then there may be a message or
there may just be music. Either way, I always feel happy and
warm - whether I understand why or not.
Marila:
Katt,
thank you for sharing your beautiful experience... I remember
a double rainbow when I was on a trip to the South of Germany
- for me it was a sign of being taken care of - I needed this
sign so much...
Mouse:
Squeak! I
found information in another thread as follows:
WolfSpirit:
As
I came out of work tonight, I turned the wrong way out of the
gates and there in front of me was the most vivid rainbow I
had ever seen - all the colors of the Chakras in deep rich tones.
Then, as I looked again, I saw a second rainbow - above and
to the left of the main one - just the end of it as it came
down to earth - about a quarter the length of the main rainbow.
I stopped the car and just looked for a moment...
The streets
near were I work are all one way systems so I had to do a couple
of lefts to get to the direction I should have been going when
I came out of the office - and then a couple of rights out of
the estate the office is on. By the time I got back to facing
the rainbow again a couple of minutes
later - and from a position about a half mile from, but parallel
to the road outside the office, the second rainbow could not
be seen.
Something
made me take that wrong turn to see the double rainbow as I
would not have seen it otherwise... So, does a double rainbow
mean anything? Can't help feeling that it is a sign in some
way!
CinnamonMoon:
Double the blessing. *Smiles*
And alignment of the energies putting them in balance to bring
it through.
NorthernStar:
In a double
rainbow the outside ring, called the secondary rainbow is the
mirror image of the inside ring or primary rainbow. The secondary
rainbow's light simply comes from the bottom of the raindrops,
the primary, from the top. Because raindrops are kinda warped
on the bottom as they fall, secondary rainbows only come from
tiny raindrops that don't fall as fast. So, if it's raining
hard, only look for one rainbow, but if it's just misting (in?)
the sunlight you might see two or even three rainbows at once.

Wolfie, may be the deep inside view may unfold for yourself...I
once saw a beautiful double rainbow - and it held a very personal
information for me. May be there is some personal information
for you, too... May be you want to meditate about the double
rainbow and ask for the message... WolfSpirit:
Cinn, maybe this is a sign
to hold on in there at the moment - over the last two or three
weeks things have been a little "squishy" is the only
word I can use - feeling "out of sorts" again after
a period of clarity and positivity. Star* Thanks for the links!
Meditating on the rainbow sounds like a plan! Strange things
are happening right now...I feel that there is something in
this - I never take that turn when I come out of work, so I
was compelled to do that for a reason!
Cinn, Well you've said it
twice now, so point heard and understood! I seem to need that
reassurance right now! I am trying to make change in the physical
but getting nowhere fast over the last couple of weeks - maybe
I am trying too hard - I was told to stop on one thing (the
house move) after three or four weekends of constant house-hunting!
I was told that the house would come to me - and I understand
that one...but work is creating a little bit of stress right
now as there are big decisions others would like me to make
that I am not ready to make, so am fending off a little bit
of other's fear in that respect right now! Add that to relationship
stuff coming forward.....but the latter I am letting take its
own course (Wolfie is finally learning!)!LOL! So I will
take the rainbow as a sign that everything is on course, and
in its right place and time! Thanks Cinn.
Minna:
Hi,
Wolfie - Blessings to you in your cycles of changes. Your rainbow
post brought to mind a sweet blessing I received. Right after
my mother's funeral in 1996, my husband, my grown daughter and
I were in our front yard after coming home from her funeral
and there was the most beautiful, beautiful, rainbow in the
sky. Right then and there, my daughter, who was grieving too,
put her arm around my shoulder and sang me this song, The Rainbow
Connection... Here are the words - I, too, think it was a blessing
for you to see *your* double rainbow.
Written by Paul
Williams and used by Kermit the Frog, of The Muppets, Jim Henson
Productions
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
Who said that
every wish would be heard and answered when wished on the morning
star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it, and look what
it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing? And what do we think
we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the
dreamers and me.
All of us under
its spell, we know that it's probably magic....
Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the
dreamers and me.
La, la la, La,
la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa
All we need is
faith and trust...and just a little pixie dust :)
MoonStar:
Minna
- thanks for posting that song!! It's one of my all-time favorites,
preferably sung by the green one himself, Mr. Kermit the Frog!!!
Also, since my Dad passed on in 1984 I've always seen rainbows
as him sending me a smile :-)... Cinn...funny but as I was reading
Wolf Spirit's initial posting...first thought that came to mind
was "Double the Blessings"! And I hadn't even read
yours yet....!!!! I have a picture of a double rainbow from
when I lived in CO...if SEDD will shrink it (wink wink, nudge
nudge* LOL) perhaps we can post it somewhere so everyone can
see it! *walks away with a soft smile, humming the song and
seeing a small green frog on a log singing...*
SilverEagleDreamDancer:
HEY
I have that album LOL! (for those who don't know what an 'album'
is... it's a flat vinyl disk that us dinosaurs used to play
on something called a turntable. It made music!) It's one of
the best the muppets ever did as a collective. The reprise of
that song at the end of the album had slightly different words
that may just be of significance? Why are there so many, songs
about rainbows that's part of what rainbows do Rainbow are memories,
sweet dream reminders what is it you'd like to do? All of us
watching and wishing we'd find it. I noticed you're watching
to. Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers
the dreamers and... (well, there's instrumental here cause the
set starts to fall apart LOL due to that really big muppet who's
name escapes me at the moment, crashing the set.. then they
start singing again in the rubble of what once had been a pretty
set) "Life's like a movie write your own ending keep believing
keep pretending we did just what we set out to do Thanks to
the lovers the dreamers and you."
2CrowWoman:
"Life's like
a movie write your own ending keep believing keep pretending
we did just what we set out to do Thanks to the lovers the dreamers
and you." Two strange things just happened for me. I came
back to read this post and found SEDD's extra words (above).
They really hit home as they fitted as a perfect reply to something
that has been worrying me this evening. So I copied them down
to paste into a notepad so I could keep them. And somehow, whilst
I was getting ready to reply here with a thanks for them, I
managed to paste and post the words by themselves! I had to
use the EDIT to write all of this. How strange.. but nice!

I read those lyrics
and thought about my childhood- I used to sing this song all
the time as a child. It's a favorite song of both my hubby and
me...I have all the Muppet Shows on tape...and we just got the
Muppet Movie on DVD. I can be such a dork. But, those words
hold deep meaning for me right now. I think of my grandpa who
used to sing it with me. I got the name "The Calling"
which is the name of the Priestess Process I teach from that
very verse. *Happy Tears* Thanks for the memory..
Katt:
Mouse, thanks for finding
that, I tried a search in the archives and didn't turn up anything.
My detective skills are terrible.
Dragonfly:
My
late husband told me he would try to send me a sign back that
he was Ok, he passed of cancer and so we had time to talk about
these things. The day he passed the undertaker took him away
and many people stayed with me. About an hour later I was called
outside to look at something, it was a massive complete double
rainbow, so strong I expected a third bow to appear. The strange
thing was it wasn't raining at all, (MN in August) and it stayed
beautiful and strong for ages, we called others to come out
to look at it, and still it stayed. We all stood just watching
it and ohhing an ahhing, then we saw some birds fly (what looked
like to us,) over it. I said there are the bluebirds flying
over it. It was the 'Somewhere over the Rainbow ' song in real
life so we could all see it. Everyone there said it was a sign
from Chuck.
Now whenever I see
a double rainbow I know it comes from him and he is saying,
'Hi here I am, watching over you. I am Ok up here way up high!'
and I smile and sometimes wave, and know that he is there. My
friends and family often send me photos of double rainbows,
saying, 'I saw this and knew it was for you from Chuck.'
Double Rainbows mean
Chuck's love to me
